DESCRIPTION:Canoe and Outdoor Skills Camp\nMonday and Tuesday 8:00am – 4:00pm\nCrow Creek Park Quarry\n\nGet ready for two fun-filled days of paddling\, adventure\, and outdoor exploration! The Canoe and Outdoor Skills Camp is designed for youth ages 10–14 to learn essential canoeing and nature skills in a supportive and exciting small-group setting. Led by experienced instructor Brendan O’Brien from Eagle Bend Canoe Adventures\, kids will develop basic paddling techniques\, water safety awareness\, rescue skills\, navigation abilities\, and a deeper connection to the natural world\, all through hands-on games\, challenges\, and team-building activities.\nCampers are required to bring a nut-free sack lunch with a drink each day\, along with a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack. In addition\, campers need to bring a refillable water bottle.\n\nCampers should be prepared for the elements of the day\, as camp is held outdoors. Children should wear comfortable “play” clothes and sturdy footwear\, either tennis shoes or sandals with straps that can get wet. Sun protection such as a hat or long sleeves is encouraged. Please ensure your camper brings sunscreen and bug spray daily. All personal items\, including clothing\, water bottles\, and other belongings\, should be clearly labeled with the camper’s name.\n\nCanoes\, paddles\, life jackets\, water refills\, and all materials needed for afternoon activities are provided by Eagle Bend Canoe Adventures.

DESCRIPTION:Bettendorf Parks and Recreation is partnering with Davenport Valley Archers to provide an indoor event to try out archery! We will cover range safety and set up\, parts of the bow and arrow\, and the steps of shooting prior to shooting. Try Archery is a program geared towards those interested in giving archery a try. No experience necessary. Certified instructors on hand to get you started and all equipment needed for this 2-hour clinic will be provided!\n\nAdults Only – Wednesday\, August 13 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM\n•	Must be 17 and older\n\nFamilies – Wednesday\, September 24 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM\n•	This class will be geared towards families shooting together. Families can include one adult and one child\, or one adult and multiple children or two adults and multiple children. Children must be at least 8 years old.\n•	Registration is limited to 16 individuals.\n•	The Davenport Valley Archers are a family-oriented organization and are offering families a chance to learn archery together.

DESCRIPTION:The City of Bettendorf’s Parks & Recreation Department is inviting the community to give their input on what upgrades or additions should be made at Friendship Park. \n\nFriendship Park (5033 White Post Road) features a shelter\, sand volleyball court\, and a large playground space. The City has set a budget of $150\,000 to replace the aging playground and further enhance this neighborhood park. Some ideas include a modern\, traditional playground with rubber surfacing\, or a non-traditional playground\, such as a small rock climbing wall. You can learn more by visiting a special webpage created for this project at www.bettendorf.org/RefreshFriendshipPark. \n\n“Neighborhood parks are essential to our community\,” said John Byrnes\, Parks & Recreation Director. “On average\, U.S. residents visit a local park and recreation facility 22 times a year – or nearly twice a month. Our goal is to invest in these neighborhood parks to get residents outside\, active\, social\, and enjoying our beautiful city.” \n\nThe Bettendorf Parks & Recreation Department is encouraging the community to share their thoughts on the improvements they’d like to see at Friendship Park by attending a special event on Thursday\, August 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be free food and an opportunity for park-goers of all ages to “make their mark” on their favorite park features as well as submit their own ideas. \n\n“We want to hear from you\, the users of Friendship Park!” added Byrnes. “This is a chance for anyone from a five-year-old child to folks who have lived in the neighborhood for decades to show up and tell us what they want to see in their park. We can’t wait to enhance and refresh Friendship Park for the coming years\, and this is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from park-goers themselves.”
